We mostly think of ill health as affecting the individual and his or her loved ones. But as the COVID-19 pandemic has shown, ill health takes a major toll on society and, as a result, the globalized world itself. As a run up to World Health Day on April 7, McKinsey has compiled a list of its most prolific publications on the topic of health and prosperity. The thread running through all of these pieces is that prioritizing health, both physical and mental, creates the best conditions for prosperity for nations and societies worldwide. Increased government spending and business investments in preventive health should create a healthy society where prosperity is the norm rather than the exception.
